The household shelter has rules of its own

Flats built with a household shelter have a reinforced enclosure whose walls, ceiling, floor and door are structural civil-defence elements. They are not ordinary partition walls and are not treated as such in any renovation.

What can be done inside

The door is not a cupboard door

The shelter door is part of the protective enclosure. Treating it cosmetically is a different question from altering it, and the two should not be confused in a quotation.

Everyday storage elsewhere

Because the shelter has constraints, most flats need a second storage strategy: a tall utility cabinet near the entrance, or bulk storage above the wardrobe run.
